Katie Swift's Story

Katie Swift began her food career as a cadet journalist at Woman’s Day
Magazine. Katie was very fortunate to work in the test kitchen, under the
wonderful tutelage of the late Margaret Fulton OAM.
When Katie’s first child was born in 1978, she started a catering business
which she could run in conjunction with raising one, then two small children.

Katie’s catering  career was a successful and happy one, which was covered
in an article in Gourmet Traveller magazine . This story
led to a path away from catering and back into the magazine world.
Katie was approached by Editor Mandy Nolan, to become the Food Editor
of Interiors Magazine. There followed a very busy decade, developing recipes,
cooking and styling for photography and developing strong relationships
within the food industry.

Early 2000s, time for another change, another baby, another career course. This time
free lance food styling for editorial and advertising, both stills and TVcs. Katie loved this, every day a different client, a different product and a different crew.
Then, one day in 2012, Katie gave a bottle of homemade Lemon Cordial
to a friend who was opening a cafe.......and everything changed again.

Slowly,  but surely, over the last eight years Katie Swift Cordials has developed
from one flavour and one outlet, to sixteen flavours and many outlets and venues.

How Katie Swift Cordials Started

The original Lemon cordial has been in Katie's family for generations. Katie gave a bottle of the original lemon to Alex Elliott-Howrie and James Grant as a 'cafe warming present' when they opened their award winning cafe - Cornersmith Cafe in Marrickville in 2012. Alex and James asked if they could sell the cordial at Cornersmith, and Katie Swift Cordials was on its way.  Cornersmith Cafe started selling the cordial and from one, then are now 12 flavours.
